about

The Stoic is my second full length EP. It's an 'esoteric concept album' about dealing with loss and failure. There are a lot of elements in the album that have been meditative for me, and letting it exist with it's flaws is a personal growth for myself as an artist.

Jonathan Livingston was gracious enough to let me use his improvised piece as "Song for JCW"

Thanks to Jonathan Gore for performing the U-Bass piece for "When I try to be Still," and for his fantastic input on the album during the final stages.

A massive thanks to Peter from Not for his invaluable feedback on the rough draft of the album.

The incredible Dane Rousay provided his percussion talents on "You are the Rock and the Star," and I am eternally grateful.

Track Name: Wait for the rest
I recorded the drum parts to this track in an abandoned civic center that has since been torn down.
Track Name: you dont yet have all you can
I had the hardest time being "okay" with this being the second song on the album; it's a long drone piece, definitely not something that would engage a casual listener. If that's you, sorry.
Track Name: its one of lifes pleasures to have something left to hope for
you're going to hear a lot of organ inspired sounds on this album, FYI
Track Name: suppose you have surpassed all others
Honestly nothing I can say about this track will do it justice, I'm not really worthy enough to attempt something this serious and meaningful.
Track Name: be glad youre first in the heart of your friend
The 'finale' of the first half of the album; congratulations!

Also, there are tiny parts of this track that I recorded on a toy piano from the 50s that was gifted to me, if you're in the mood for some interesting(?) trivia.
Track Name: When I Try to be Still (That's when I notice my motion the most)
My good friend Jonathan Gore is fantastic at making his friend's uke bass sing on this track.
Track Name: Grow Him, Immortal
All credit and love goes to the fantastic Ray Bradbury for writing beautiful words that I can steal and put on songs of mine.
Track Name: Song for JCW
Joke song title that stuck; whoops.
Track Name: An impediment to the Leg
1/2
Track Name: Not to the Will
2/2
Track Name: Bird Seed
This is actually the "oldest" track on this album; I made this one way back in 2012/2013. I'm amazed that, despite my style changing significantly over the years, this one has found a place.
Track Name: You are the Rock and the Star
"you are the rock and the star....and don't you forget it." I hope this album has brought you some semblance of positivity, and that you'll pass that positivity onto someone else! Get out there and love.
